Children are seen in the office when their first tooth erupts. The reason we see the little ones at such an early age is that Kentucky kids lead the nation in tooth decay. Untreated decay causes innumerable health issues with children and the costs for care are ridiculously high. With that in mind, the practice is totally geared for the prevention of oral disease and not procedure oriented with the care of children. We do not charge $250-300 to clean and check your kids teeth.

Tooth decay is totally preventable by the simple elimination of refined sugars ( both liquid and solid ) from the childs’ diet and by practicing good oral hygiene. Parents are continually educated and instructed in these as their children “grow-up” in the practice.

After 35 years of caring for children, the majority of the kids who I have seen on a regular preventive program have not had a cavity. The costs to the parents for the dental care have been nominal.

The appearance of your teeth can greatly affect the way people relate to you. Chipped, worn, discolored or misaligned teeth will make you look older or even unhealthy. Surprisingly, people assume that the costs to correct these conditions are astronomically outrageous, when in fact the opposite is true. Shape, size and color of teeth can be changed without the expense of $2000 veneers or general anesthesia. Dr. Harney has more than 35 years of experience in cosmetic dentistry, and is available to make recommendations for the best way to improve your smile within your available budget and insurance limitations.

Cosmetic Teeth Reshaping

recontoured teethFaces come in an assortment of shapes, ranging from round to square, triangular to rectangular and combinations of these. It is important for a pleasing appearance that the shape of the teeth match the shape of your face. Many times it is a simple process to reshape the teeth without veneers or porcelain crowns . Cosmetic reshaping of the teeth does not make them more sensitive or prone to decay.

Cosmetic Composite Bonding

Simple cosmetic composite bonding can dramatically change your appearance. By taking a series of digital photographs and then determining what facial features you want to emphasize or de- emphasize, bonding can make your lips appear more or less full. It can de-emphasize a large nose or crooked lips.

Composite bonding is somewhat limiting in nature as compared to porcelain veneers. It has limited light absorption and reflection and does not sparkle as much as porcelain. It is a great “fix” for someone needing a fast make-over with little or no drilling on the teeth.

Diastemae

In years past, to close gaps (diastemae) between teeth required orthodontia or porcelain veneers. Now, with composite bonding or porcelain veneers, closure is a simple and less expensive process.

PSpace Closure Space Closure Fixed

A number of new products are now available for those patients who need to wear their new smile for a trial period of time. After an initial work-up, a temporary acrylic appliance is fabricated and is worn until the patient makes a final determination about their appearance changes.
